Wow! Where did the time go!

Man, I just gotta make time to keep up with "life!" Work, carving and Lilly sure managed to gobble up my free time. Anyone who's retired for longer than a year knows only too well time (literally) flies by. I retired in 2005 and I still can't believe I just celebrated 10 years of retirement. In that time we've moved three times, been Disney Cast Members for over eight years and I've just completed my 48th carving. But, one thing we know is, Lilly has changed both our lives. It seems Lilly sets our schedules, wake-up times as well as where and when we go.... anywhere! But, she's worth it!

Here we are in the middle of the summer and triple digit heat indexes. Snowbirds started their northern migration back in March and we've adjusted to the lack of friends being around in large part thanks to Lilly. Lilly's walks tend to be long in the early morning and late evening. During the day we pay close attention to blistering heat rising from the road surface on Lilly being so close to it along with any shade we can take advantage of along the brief midday walks.

If you've been following Facebook many of our winter friends have been extremely active. Pete, Joan, Jack and Alice have been out and about at a number of Blues Festivals as well as travelling about. Larry and Judy, Gary and Judy have also posted their travels on Facebook. Pardon my memory if I've passed over a few others. It's great seeing and reading about their summer happenings.

DownTown Disney is progressing fabulously. Over the summer I'll try to post a few photos for you.
Yes, the traffic continues to be brutal, especially on the weekends. The construction and traffic seems to have little effect on the businesses or the popularity of DownTown Disney.

Many of the parks are undergoing lots of renovations. Hopefully, much of the work will be winding down for the Fall and Winter. Pat and I have not been into the parks all that much. The heat and the crowds are tuff to take. You will not believe the housing going up in South Lake area. They don't seem to build 20 or 50 homes down here. Its more like 500 to a 1000! I just read a builder is planning to build a community of 4,000 homes in Minneola just miles north of Clermont!

The photo (of a poster) below is of the Magic Kingdom "Hub" renovation. They've expanded the "walk arounds" to make it easier for guests to pass around the central "Hub."

Being up in the "hills" of Clermont has provided us with some great sunsets...

...as well as some heavy summer afternoon rain!

We headed out to the Villages to check out the Art Fair.

We caught sight of this cool pet!

Actually, the trek to the Villages was an excuse to carry Lilly in her "carrier-crate" for her upcoming trek with Pat to visit with Darlene & Buzz.

I'm going to try something that I had hoped to get started last summer... "Find the Hidden Mickey!"
All of you "Super Sleuth Hidden Mickey Hunters" shouldn't have too much trouble finding them but they'll get more difficult to find!

Now that I've "broken the ice" (so to speak) I hope to post more often. You'll be happy to know that Lilly too has made it back on her blog.
