Buzz and I headed out to see a few trains at the Official PA Train Museum. If you're a train lover, Strasburg will fill the bill.
Strasburg is also home to the "Red Caboose Motel"....
This is not your father's type of motel; its more like your grandfather's or even your great-grandfather's...
These actual cabooses are your room for the night. Can't say we've been in one!
Just after the conductor shouted, "All aboard!" the steam locomotive puffed down the track... and Buzz and I headed across the street to the Pennsylvania Rail Road Museum.
Years ago, Bill (of Bill and Angela) and I visited this museum. Since our last visit the museum added an overhead walkway providing visitors with a very different perspective of this spacious building.
Once on the floor, standing next to these time worn behemoths you can fully appreciate the glorious history of this era.
This beauty below is my favorite because there is a "pit" underneath it.
Walking under this behemoth you get a "track's eye view" of its underbelly.
Below is a "stitched" photo. (Click on it to enlarge the photo.)
A wooden snow plow.
Below, you're looking at the mail car and the method used to "pick-up" the mail sack while the train is high-balling down the track.
In their "hey-day" trains were a most fashionable means of travel.
As we leave, we venture out into the "yard." Pennsylvania is extremely proud of its "Iron Horse" history. They are continually seeking out and restoring noteworthy engines and/or cars to showcase.
This "round-about" can access the tracks they have cars on for refurbishing to move to and from the shop.
The two engines below are the largest of their kind and there is hope that they too can be restored and take their place alongside the other proud members of an elite fleet.

Next, Buzz and Darlene and Pat and I head to Gettysburg.
