It's from Kathy M. (You may know her as the other half of Kathy and Duane!) A few weeks ago I was surprised to receive an email from Kathy as she and her daughter, Lyn flew "out west" for a chance to see what the "wild west" has to offer. Kathy would like to send on a little story about their trip. In the future, i.e. when Kathy can learn a little more about getting photos out over the internet we'll get a chance to check them out. It appears this story may turn out to be epic!
Hi Everyone,
I would like to add some notes to your blog. Lyn, my daughter and I left LaGuardia Airport on August 8th. The day that Delta had computer problems and many flights were cancelled. We managed to get out but it took 5 hours in the Airport. Plus another 11/2 hours sitting on the plane.
We had to fly to Minn.-St Paul MN, (that is Judy and Jim's State). It's an extremely large Airport where we had to ride a train and 3 people walkers just to get to the gate to leave for Rapid City South Dakota. What a day of traveling and it didn't end there! We were also dealing with getting bumped off of planes because we can fly free thanks to my daughter, a flight attendant for Delta, but we must fly stand-by only.
After 3 days in South Dakota, we left for Salt Lake City, Utah. Unfortunately, we couldn't get out at all to make our way to Jackson Hole, WY. So, we ended up staying overnight in Salt Lake and the next day we left for Bozeman, Montana (the only flight we could get). We rented a car and drove 90 miles to the North entrance of Yellowstone Park. After 3 days there, we drove through the Grand Tetons Park which was beautiful with Mountains over 12,000' high. The skiers must love it in the winter. They have some of the most beautiful lakes and Mountains to see. Then we drove to Jackson Hole, WY to stay for one night. It's a real cowboy town, real cute and they had a shoot-out in the Main Street. Wow, what fun! We then had to leave the next day for Salt Lake City to get on yet another plane, to fly to Kennedy Airport and take a train home. What a wonderful trip, but exhausting to have to be on 6 different flights and 5 states and 6 cities, WOW!!! The West of our Country is beautiful!!
We're looking forward to seeing all of you in FL over the winter. We'll have lots to talk about.
love, Kathy M.
We'll be looking forward to hearing about all the awesome landmarks she and her daughter visited along with some photos of their trip over the winter.
In local news, Pat and I happened onto a local Hot Rod show lining downtown Clermont. I hope you'll enjoy some of the "hot" wheels on display....
Nothing like a classic "lead sled!"
This Mustang is the pride and joy of my colleague, Tim.
This one (below) followed us out of our community. We hear Kings Ridge has quite a group of car collectors.
My personal favorite!
Pat still has a soft spot in her heart for the Camaro. Her very first new car was a 1966 Camaro convertible.
A work in progress!
The car owners enjoy showing off their street rods at various car shows in towns all over the area through out the year.
Here's a friend of Lilly's. This is "Nash" showing off his fresh haircut and matching bowtie!
(Did you think Lilly wouldn't try to get into the picture?)
Phoebe wasn't quite sure of what to make of "Nash's" new bowtie!
